Favorite Moments...

Instead of some big long post about the Thanksgiving break, how 'bout we wrap it up nicely with a list of all my favorite moments from the past 5 days...(and with Friday's post! ha!)

**Getting to spend extra time with Kevin. We had all day Thursday and until 5pm on Friday.
**Looking through old family photos at Kevin's house from when he was little. I will have to post some later this week! I love old pictures!
**Getting a hug from my Mom when Kevin and I stopped in to see her on our way back to John 3:16.
**Playing sequence with Kevin's parents (even though we lost this time - totally my fault!) Rematch at Christmas!!
**Making our Christmas card photo...coming to a mailbox near you soon! :-)
**Sitting in a restaurant alone with Kevin and just talking.
**NO papers to grade!!!
**Getting into a whip cream fight at the family gathering with my cousin, Tanner. (although, I don't recommend this as it ruins whatever clothes you were wearing!)
**Going with my peeps to see Four Christmases after the family gathering. It was predictable but funny. I love me some Vince!!
**Last, but certainly not least, getting to laugh, hug, hold hands, talk to Kevin for 3 out of the past 5 days!!

Bittersweet

*Jax looks HUGE in this picture...doesn't he? ha!
I took Kevin back to John 3:16 today. We had a great visit, but being together for two days almost made it harder to leave him behind today. Nothing went as originally planned for our Turkey Day plans, but we rolled with the punches! It actually got to be quite funny. In short version, we were given the restriction of not being able to sleep under the same roof because we aren't married. So....we went to Kevin's parents house and while me and the dog got to sleep inside, Kevin slept outside in the back of the Yukon with an extension cord running to it that plugged into a heating blanket. Seriously! LOL! Let's just say, it got interesting with some last minute planning changes, and I was once again reminded how laid-back and awesome my Mom is and how grateful I am that my future mom-in-law and I can work together to keep everyone happy!! :-)
I miss him already, but luckily I will get to see him on Sunday...
If you haven't been to the website in awhile...go! John 3:16

It was here and gone so fast!

I think I have post-hosting blues! You know how you spend all week getting the yard and house ready for the big event, then it's here and gone just like that? We hosted the big family Thanksgiving today, and it was a success. But after everyone left, I felt a little sad. I was so busy running all day and doing stuff that it went too fast, and I didn't feel like I even got to talk to anybody! So, I called one of my best cousin buddies (that had JUST left my house - ha!) and we talked for about half an hour. I felt better! LOL! However, I am very upset that I didn't take very many pictures and barely got any good ones!! The weather didn't cooperate today, and there weren't many picture taking opportunities! I hope Aunt Lyn shares like she promised - otherwise, what kind of scrapbooker will I be? ha! Awww...I am getting rid of these blues just chatting on the phone and blogging! Kevin thinks I am crazy! :-) Who me?

I know I should just relax tomorrow after this mad rush all week to get the yard and house ready, but I think I am going to try to tackle some Christmas decorations!!! Not everything...just some fun stuff! Like the tree and the stockings....speaking of, we need a good Christmas card idea for this year. Do we put just me, Kevin, and the dog OR bring the cats in too? I can't decide...these decisions are very important! My Christmas cards make me smile every year...it has to be just right! Should we wear Santa hats? Hmmm....go here to see last year's card and here for the year's before that! Let's hear your creative thinking!

One more workday...

...that's right - only one more day of work this week and then 5 days off in a row!!! YIPPEEE!!!
That should give me plenty of time to get all the stuff done I need to do before the family Turkey day at my house on Saturday!! (IF the weather cooperates!!) Kevin and I have been sick since Saturday - achey, congested, exhausted, runny noses, blah, blah, blah. That didn't help the yard work get done this weekend though! AND it's supposed to rain on Wednesday...uh-oh! That could really hinder the leaf raking job...and the mowing...hmmm!

I did manage to get a few things marked off my list in between naps and medicine over the weekend! Remember my list:
1. sleeping in (BIG time!) Done!
2. raking leaves
3. cleaning up the back deck
Done!
4. mowing or begging Kevin to mow
5. laundry
Done!
6.cleaning out the snake infested flowerbed
Done!
7. burning leaves and yard brush
8. buying turkey for our Thanksgiving the next Saturday
Done!
9. going to Wal-Mart (I hate Wal-Mart!)
Done!
10. grading papers (of course!) Done! (today but still counts!)
11. hopefully finishing my Master's project DONE!
12. cleaning out my car
13. going to church Went!

As you can see, it is mainly yard work left...cross your fingers for us! It also looks like on Saturday when I have about 35 folks in my small house that it is going to be rainy and cold!!!! Where will we all fit? This is my fourth year to host turkey day, and we have always gotten lucky with the weather where we could spend the majority of our time outside. Last year, we even ate on the back deck...oh well, it's only Monday...I'll save my panic for later in the week! ha!

Turkey weekend...

Spent the weekend in NE Arkansas with Kevin's family for Thanksgiving. I was a nervous wreck at first ~ I know his immediate family, but there were a ton of folks there. Of course, my family being from the same area, everyone seemed to know at least one of my family members and had a story to share! It was fun and interesting to hear some of the stories. Kevin's grandmother and my great-grandma Bradford used to pick cotton together when they were little girls. She even knew my great-great grandmother! How cool is that!!

I think everyone knew my Uncle Scott ~ he must be a legend or something! ha! Once I was talking to someone, and I overheard someone saying, "Now did you hear who she was? Her uncle is Scott from Piggott!" ha! I hope they are good stories they are remembering! I'm sure they are!!! Everyone knew my Aunt and Uncle that are farmers in the area too. I heard a funny story about some cheerleaders pulling Uncle Terry's pants down in the gym in front of everyone! LOL!

Hey Scott - if you are reading this - your buddy, Coop, is Kevin's cousin and his parents were there too. His mom is funny! I really liked her alot!

Anyway - after everyone left, we had a little family game night. I thought the picture with Kevin's dad in the background was funny b/c as we were playing games, he was doing something with some guns. You can see him in the background like "Poppa's got a gun! Better Behave!" Ha! He moved out of the background for the rest of the pics!

I had planned to try and swing by to visit some of my kinfolk in the area but we were pretty swamped the whole time, and I knew I'd see ya this Saturday for our Thanksgiving. So ~ I'll catch ya next time!

Sunday morning, we went to church with Kevin's parents and nephews. That was pretty neat too b/c we had Sunday school with a guy that we had Sunday school as kids. It was like being back in the day ~ I felt like I should start passing notes or something! LOL! Kevin's mom even still plays the piano in church like she did when we were kids.

On the way home, we stopped and got some lottery tickets from Mr. T's (hence the picture). I just wanted to remember where I bought my winning ticket from! :-) And of course, we stopped at Mom & Dad's and got some pecans and the turkey frier for Saturday.

Now - I'm exhausted & ready for bed! I AM rested & ready for battle on Monday if necassary!!! LOL!
