STUPID weedeaters & GREAT neighbors...

Anyone remember how last summer I had lawnmower trouble all season? Couldn't keep one running...this year, the lawnmower is running (knock on wood), but the STUPID weedeater or should I say weedeaters plural are worthless!!! URGH! I got one last year at the beginning of yard work season that was battery powered. Loved it! It was light weight, and I didn't feel like my arms were going to fall off after weedeating. Well, this year, the battery won't hold the charge. It would take 3 days of charging and weedeating to get the yard done. So, Kevin has a big gas powered weedeater. I hate that thing, but it doesn't matter b/c it is sitting in the garage in pieces from him working on it over a month ago and not being able to fix it. Enter my parents weekeater that I borrowed a few weeks ago. My neighbor came over yesterday to help me get it started. After getting me started and having a good laugh because I would scream everytime it got to going too fast ~ have I mentioned I HATE gas powered weedeaters? ha! Anyway, my poor neighbor had to re-start it three times for me. Then, I finally got on a roll and the stupid line ran out! URGH! I now have not one, not two, but three worthless weedeaters in my garage and a backyard that still needs to be done! I have the worst luck with lawn equipment!! Any good recommendations for a weedeater that is lightweight?

Seriously though, I have the BEST neighbors!! On Saturday, they came over to check on me because they hadn't seen me in awhile. In this neighborhood, awhile equals anything over a week. There are days that we all get our lawn chairs and set outside and talk until it gets dark. So, they came over to check in, and I let them know about Kevin and what all had been happening over here. They were very supportive. They also love Kevin - he won them over with his cooking too! ha! So, Sunday, Greg helped me with the weedeater, and tonight Kenya called and was making my favorite meal (beans and cornbread & fried potatoes) and told me to come eat! NO ONE can cook good 'ole southern food like Kenya!! YUM! She didn't have to ask me twice! Before Kevin came along, Kenya fed me on a pretty regular basis because she would just shake her head at what I was eating. hee-hee! Thank goodness for good neighbors!

4th of July Weekend

Between us and the neighbors, I think we had a pretty good display of fireworks! Kevin was like a kid in a candy store when we went in the firework tent! I mean...look at how his eyes lit up over the silly chicken firework:
We had a cookout with the neighbors, and then my cousin and her family came over to watch and enjoy the fireworks. We had a great time! We had sparklers and Roman Candles for the kids, and then plenty for the big boys to stay entertained.
Look at that mess we made in the road behind Kayce...it was ALL worth it!
For anyone who missed fireworks on the 4th, here is a video of the last one we lit...our grand finale...it only lasts about 45 seconds. If you don't watch for any other reason, watch to listen for Kevin's excitement in the background..."hey" booomm....booommm "hey". hee-hee!

Entertainment

This is my neighbor, George. He came over about a month ago and asked to use the computer to print off some music sheets & teach himself the guitar. He was back three hours later and played one of the songs already. I was impressed!! He came over tonight & entertained us all with the latest songs he's taught himself ~ black bird, Stairway to Heaven & Purple Haze.

Football, cheerleading & the County Fair

I had the BEST weekend! Friday night, me, my friend, and Taylar went to the local high school football game. Our team lost, but it was still fun. I love HS games ~ takes me back in time! Saturday my friend and I had a full day!! That morning we went to watch my cousin, Kayce cheer for the 4th grade football team. She did great!! Then, we cruised through some local flea markets, grabbed lunch, and watched the Razorbacks. (or rather he watched the game, and I snuck in a nap! ha!) That night we headed to the White Co. Fair to take his nephews out for a night of fun and met up with my parents at the rodeo. It was a great night. The kids rode rides & we all watched the demolition derby and rodeo. (And oh the junk food!!!) After the rodeo, the boys had to ride the mechanical bull ~ several times!

And once again, Monday comes too soon.....

Little Moments

Last night I went to the game with the neighbor kids (Taylar and George). We laughed and had a great time. On the way home, Taylar and I were acting silly and singing to the radio (annoying George the best we could!). We were making up little dance routines to the music and laughing so hard our stomachs hurt. Then she looked at me and asked, "Have you ever had one of those nights that you wished you could live over and over?" I said, "oh yeah - those are the best!" She said, "This is one of those nights!"

These are the little moments I live for!!

Signs of football!!

Football season has arrived! Tonight was the first game and we won!! 20 to 7 - and it was 20 to 0 until the last 45 seconds!!! I love the whole atmosphere of a football game!

I had NO idea what a big deal this game was - we barely made it in time b/c of traffic. There were 22,000 people at the game!!! Even the weather cooperated and felt like football season - good stuff all around!

Good neighbors

I have the BEST neighbors! When this neighbor visits - which is almost daily - she brightens my day & the dogs are thrilled to see her every time!! As you can see - Jax adores her! Rocky too b/c she fusses over him and rubs his belly and makes sure he's been brushed. Like they weren't rotten enough!

I am blessed to have such wonderful neighbors. You really appreciate them more when you've had "not so nice" ones in the past!! I was worried when I moved here 2 years ago. Can you believe it's already been 2 years???? I can't!! I lucked out and couldn't have picked a better place to start over!

Summer fun...

Summer is almost over for us teachers! But I spent June & July enjoying camping & some laid back days with the neighbors! June was the yearly family camping trip where lots of good memories are made & many laughs this year!! Best quote from my 5 year old cousin, "What the BLEEEP!" or even when he said, "What's wrong with you woman?" to my niece! ha!

My neighbors and I had some awesome fireworks on the 4th of July. Way too many to share all, but I included one. Really this is just a test for me to see how to load pictures! :)

I'll do a better job next time!!
