Catchin' Up

This weekend was the BoxAR Pics with Santa Fundraiser. We worked our tails off!! ha! Seriously, we worked from 10:30am until 4pm nonstop. We had a steady line all day ~ it was a great fundraiser! I got to be the photographer ~ I snapped this one because I thought it was cute that the lab gave Santa a kiss! I think we saw more pugs and doxie's than any other breed...maybe labs too! The two neatest dogs were an Irish Wolfhound puppy (10 months old and already big) and a labradoodle. I know some people have a thing about 'designer dogs', but you gotta admit those labradoodles are CUTE! We only had two boxers all day, and we made a big fuss over them! ha! They were our stars!! It was a fun day!! Kevin was NOT upset that he had to work and didn't get to play Santa this year...I think he made sure he was on the schedule! LOL! We were at a better store this year and did twice as much business. Saturday we made around $300...not bad for a day's volunteering! Between Santa pictures and cookbooks, some vet payments are getting made! yay!

I got my grades back for my masters class this week too. I knew it was coming but was still disappointed. I made my first B. I tell my kids that B's are good too, but I guess I don't truly believe it! ha! I honestly am just glad this class is OVER ~ it is the first class I have gotten nothing out of. The professor cancelled more than we had class, so I'm not going to beat myself up too bad about it.

Thanks for listening to me vent yesterday and all the great ideas! I felt better after reading all the comments...and I think I am going to bake some cookies and say "in all my spare time, I just whipped these up!" ha!

Gotta run and read a few blogs quick - Kevin wants me to come snuggle up and watch some tv...I'm running out of computer time! :-)

Cookbook Fundraiser!!!

Ok gals - you gotta do this one! It's a cookbook!!! And, a really good one !!! The rescue group, BoxAR, that I volunteer with is selling cookbooks to raise money. It has over 300 recipes, and they are good ones that real people submitted ... I hate those fancy cookbooks that you don't know what the ingredients are!! They are $15 a piece - email me if you want one or leave it in the comments, and I'll take care of it.

If you live close, I'll bring it to you. If not, I can mail it for an extra $2 or hold it until next time I see you. If you want to pay by credit card and have BoxAR ship it directly to you - go to the website to order - http://www.boxarrescue.rescuegroups.org/

Come on - help out a good cause and get something cool in return!!!

Boxer slobbers all around!!!

Fundraisers, football, and together time...

Yesterday was a good day...I love a good Saturday! :-) First of all, Kevin & I have been on different schedules all week. One of the managers quit, and he had to close every night this week. So, he left for work at 2 in the afternoon & got home after I was in bed. Basically, we missed each other coming and going all week. So, Saturday was our day to finally spend together! And, I had him back at the grill! ha!We had a hot dog fundraiser for BoxAR, the boxer rescue group that I volunteer with in Arkansas. Remember all those hot dogs that were in my freezer? GONE! yippee! Granted, we didn't do as well as we thought we would (but it was a Razorback game day IN Little Rock, & we were in Cabot). But, we made about $125 more than we had! Plus, I sent all the leftover hot dogs to the kennel for the boxers to snack on! :-) I bet they were happy ~ I know Jax was when he got a few off the grill!
Above is one of the BoxAR board members - trying her best to get customers! She reminded me of the CiCi's Pizza people who stand outside the restaurant with the sign! ha!
And here is our table:
(Over to the right hand side is a basket of holiday collars that are handmade - actually by the board member above). I got one for Nala for Halloween ~ she ain't happy about it either! hee-hee!We took a long way home b/c we had the grill loaded in the back of the truck. Kevin and I love a good road trip!! Once we got home, Kevin had put some beans in the crockpot before we left. So, he made one of my favorite meals - beans and cornbread! Am I a southern girl or what? ha!
Then, we had to listen to the Razorback game on the radio b/c we couldn't find tickets to the game. Well, the radio was packed in the pop-up camper. So...another road trip to nowhere! Just us and the dog going nowhere listening to the game! ha!
Once we got home, we watched the new series Dirty, Sexy Money. (I had the pilot and first episode on the DVR) That show is AWESOME!! We both loved it! So....that is going to be my new show to pick up this year. I just don't feel the love for Private Practice (sorry). I think it's because I never really liked Addison on Grey's.
Ok...gotta run! My niece has a birthday party at 2 o'clock. pics tomorrow!

FUNDRAISERS!!

Who can resist a face like that?!!?
Believe it or not, most boxers are not as spoiled as my Jax! (keep your snickering to yourself!) A friend of mine over at Life with L introduced me to Boxer Rescue years ago. We used to be board members (important folks!), but now she has kiddo's keeping her busy, and I am working on my Master's. So, we've dropped down to "volunteer" status. (still important though!) Check out any local shelter or rescue in your area, I bet they need volunteers!
ANYWAY...Please check out our website because we have several EASY fundraisers happenin'!! For example, there is a search engine like google that you can use that gives the boxers a penny every time it's used! Hey - that adds up! And how easy is that!?!
Go to the website linked here and check out the other cool stuff!
You can help a needy boxer and feel good about yourself all at the same time!

Dog Day!!

Today started out volunteering with BoxAR rescue at Petsmart. Of course, I wanted to bring both of the dogs we had with us home!! Ripple, the brindle boxer, was a sweetheart!! He just wanted to be loved on the whole time. Shawna also brought Tara ~ the 5 mo. old boxer/lab mix that she is fostering. Tara wouldn't let Shawna out of her sight, so I am pretty sure that dog is already in her forever home! Ha! It was fun & is always neat to see all the different doggies! Here is our booth we sat up:
Then, on the way home, I stopped off at Alan's because his buddy wanted me to clip his Great Dane's toenails. Isn't she gorgeous? They call her P-Dog, which I think is too funny! Her name is actually Penelope (sp?) but that is too long to say, so they call her P-Dog! Anyway - I took Jax over to meet her b/c she is so laid back. The idea being if he couldn't get along with her, he couldn't get along with anybody! And you guessed it! He can't get along with anybody!! The dumb dog doesn't even come up to the underside of her belly & STILL tried to attack her! So, he is an only "fur child" for the rest of his days. Crazy dog!!!

BoxAR Fundraiser!

SANTA!!
Takin' a break...

Nice puppy!!
I've been very good this year Santa!

We have been at Petsmart all day for the fundraiser for BoxAR. Kevin did a great job and was most gracious about playing Santa for 5 hours!!! We made almost $200 for the rescue so we were pretty busy!! We even had one lady bring in her cat! It looked just like my Nala too! And...Santa only almost got bit twice! LOL! Both times I thought, "oh if he gets bit, he's gonna kill me for this!!" ha! Anyway...it was good practice for next weekend with the kiddos! :-)

HO HO HO!

In breaking news: Kevin is going to dress up as Santa this year at my family's Christmas at Granny's! Every year someone from Granny's hometown dresses up as Santa and shows up to hand out the kid's gifts. (of course the older ones this year know it's not real) but we still have two little ones that are 4 and under who believe!! It's so cute!

Anyway - this year, they were short on volunteers & Kevin has been volunteered & accepted the job! Don't worry ~ there will be photos! ha!

And, in case anyone was wondering ~ I have 9 working days left until Christmas break!!!!!! :-)

Signs of the season...

I love getting the house ready for Christmas! This year I got a new tree for the living room ~ my other one was just too big for my little living room now. I LOVE the new one! It is perfect for my cozy living room & the cats can still hide under it! ha! (or so they think they can!)

My little boxer in the Santa hat always makes me smile! He doesn't look at miserable as Jax when I make him dress up!! LOL! And, of course, being the animal lover I am, you know all my critters have their own stocking & Santa never forgets 'em! :-)

Happy Holidays!
